I've not eaten Filipino food before as I never made it to the Philippines. The last time I tried was some time ago and an American friend talked me out of it highlighting the dangers.
My neighbor's domestic helper gave us a huge container of chicken arroz caldo. So what is arroz caldo? It's the Filipino version of the Chinese congee is clearly recognized by the bright yellow hue contributed by the addition of saffron. It also features large pieces of chicken meat and hard boiled eggs and is usually spiced with black pepper in addition to ginger and scallion.
