This was why I got up at the crack of dawn and taking a four-hour van ride. The Damnoen Saduak floating market is 80 km southwest of Bangkok in Ratchaburi province. What did I do during the long van ride, sleep till we got to the canal to take the long-tail boat.

This is the best known destination in Ratchaburi where timeless lifestyle of Thai people can be observed along the canals. The floating market, approximately 400 metres and operates every morning till noon.A totally chaotic scene with small 'khlongs' or canals filled with boats laden with fresh produce, each jockeying for position and paddled by ladies ready to stop and bargain at a moment's notice. It's colourful, noisy, touristy but great fun.
