Sungei Buloh Prawn Watch

Decided to tag along for prawn watch, where NParks staff demonstrated the traditional method of prawn harvesting and explained influence that the tides play in prawn farming. In the photo, the ranger and a worker are raising the sluice gate to release water from the prawn pond.Pulling up the net after the sluice gate is closed.The sorting process with eager kiddy helpers under the eagle eyes of their parents.The prawns were placed into a fish tank filled with water and the small fish were placed in a pail. Rest were collected as specimens for measurement. These large fish are Milk Fish, which is eaten around the region.
