It is that time of year again when those of us who photograph birds head down to Sungei Buloh for our annual pilgrimage. I just go for the fun of it while others are there to spot the rare birds that stop by to refuel.
We were entertained by Great Egrets mixed into the large flock of Little Egrets. Originally, the presence of bigger Great Egrets weren't apparent, till we started to notice the larger birds among the smaller Little Egrets. What excited me was seeing this bird with a large fish between its beak. This bird then walked around with the fish as it evaded other Great Egrets that were following it. Eventually, it managed to swallow the fish safely.
The heat of the afternoon sun drove many of the Great Egrets to seek shelter among the trees and we sat in the main hide practicing panning.
