Even the king needs a drink

Dry season brings all kinds of wildlife to meager watering holes. We merely had to sit patiently in hides to wait for animals to drop in for a drink.

Much to my delight we had a sizeable King Cobra drop in for a drink.It was pretty chunky but not very long.

It drank for less than a minute as it may have sensed us in the hides. The previous day a friend photographed a large Indo-Chinese Rat Snake at the watering hole. The rat snake stayed longer and drank a lot of water.

I'm guessing that the king could possibly be hunting its favorite snake food - rat snakes.
