Chinese Lychees in Season

The lychee is native to low elevations of the provinces of Kwangtung and Fukien in Southern China. Cultivation spread over the years through neighboring areas of Southeastern Asia and offshore islands.
The fruits from elsewhere is usually sour and the flesh is thinner. For what it's worth the Chinese variety is the one that you have to buy.
Time to pull out my Belvedere Vodka for the lychee martini.
