I walked by the stream running along the path to the tree top walk looking for different colored dragonflies to add to my collection of photos on dragonflies. I found some black ones but they would not stay still and most of my photos had fuzzy dragonflies in them.
Whilst getting totally frustrated with the black dragonflies, I noticed a couple of tiny red and black spots on blades of grass. I thought they were ladybugs but upon closer inspection I discovered that they were tiny grasshoppers. They were just the funkiest little hoppers I've ever seen and I shot them using a zoom lens and I just could only get some of the details. It seems like I will soon have to invest in a macro lens and lug more gear with me on my field trips.
