Found the first Spiny Hill Tortoise almost a year ago and spotted another way off base. Yet another rescue by an NParks ranger for this wayward tortoise before it got into real trouble being out in the open.

After retrieving Spiny II, we checked it out. It was a male, and we found several ticks on him, which we removed.

Spiny II hissed at us during the whole de-ticking process but at least he has no blood suckers draining him of blood. He was later taken into the reserve and released in a safe location away from cars.
