Having foreign help exposes one to a little bit of culture. I always encourage my helpers to cook their local food and as a result get to enjoy lots of Indonesian village food. Today, an Indonesian helper presented us with a huge plate of nasi kunyit with four side dishes - fish balls, sausages, tempeh goreng and fried eggs. Yellow rice is traditionally served during a festival and in this instance the helper's birthday. I plated up a plate for the camera as the color of the rice was just so pleasing. The sambal was our own sambal tomat that is always available in the fridge.
