I was late. Missed the fledging of the Coppersmith Barbet nestling but there is still activity taking place at the nest site. A week later, this bird is seen busy cleaning out the nest and advertising itself with its loud "chonk" "chonk" calls.
No one is sure but it looks like it is ready to start a family again. According to this paper I found Barbets of Singapore. Part 2: Megalaima Haemacephala Indica Latham (Coppersmith Barbet), Singapore's only native, urban barbet, these birds do double brood under special circumstances. May be I'll get a second shot with this barbet if it can find a partner.
