This diminutive bird keeps us coming back for more

The Common Kingfishers have migrated to Singapore to Winter here. This kingfisher is sparrow-sized but it has the typical short-tail, large-head profile of a kingfisher. The photo above is what the bird looks like on a rock with no cropping.

Below was a pair of Common Kingfishers, shot in Kerala, India. Males have all black bills while the females have orange mandible (lower bill).
An interesting observation, so far all the Common Kingfishers I've shot here are males. The females are quite rare.
