Made a quick 3-day trip to the Land of Smiles for a critically endangered shorebird. We were lucky that the avian gods were smiling on us as we managed to locate the one or two tiny individuals among the flock of 50 or so other species. More will be posted later.
During this trip, we went to Pak Thale, Laem Pak Bia, Phukhieo Wildlife Sanctuary and Khao Yai National Park. It was tiring but worth the effort. We didn't mind baking in the hot sun and inching very slowly on soft marine clay to keep a very low profile. At the end of the day we were a muddy mess but got to observe the shorebirds without disturbing them.
