Contours of a Rich Manoeuvre 2006 by Suzann Victor
This is an installation at link bridge in the National Museum of Singapore. Contours of a Rich Manoeuvre 2006 by Suzann Victor is an enchanting assembly of eight chandeliers that adorn the length of the link bridge.
The chandeliers are installed three metres above the floor of the bridge and one and a half metres apart, each chandelier swings across the bridge’s width in sequence or in a staggered pattern. The lights on each chandelier intensify to maximum brightness on the inward arch and dim on the outward arc.
Viewed from different positions the installation offers different qualities. For example, when viewed from below, only the outermost arch away from the bridge will be visible. This lends it an attractive elusiveness. When viewed from the side, the chandeliers present themselves individually. From the Canning Entrance, the choreographed swinging is more apparent.
