Around the Esplanade Area

Dubbed “the Durian” after the prickly tropical fruit, the Esplande – Theatres on the Bay also houses a mall, cosmopolitan food outlets and the library@esplanade – Singapore’s first arts library with literature and audio-visual materials covering music, dance, film and theatre.
Located at the waterfront overlooking Marina Bay, the complex with its distinctive dome-shaped roofs comprises a 1,600-seat concert hall, a 2,000-seat theatre and several recital rooms, theatre and rehearsal studios, as well as outdoor performing spaces. The Esplanade is across from the Central Business District at the opposite end of the mouth of the Singapore River. This is the view that you will get walking along bay. Walk the other direction and you will end up at the site where National Day Parade 2007 (NDP@Marina Bay 2007) will take place.
Across from the Esplanade, is the site where the Sands is being built. The entire area is undergoing rapid change. The Singapore Flyer is also taking shape and is quite iconic glistening in the tropical sun. The cabins have not been mounted on the wheel as yet.
