I love conservation homes and last Saturday, I took a drive over to the Blair Plain Conservation Area. Located to the west of the Downtown, the area was given conservation status in 1991. It is an attractive residential area with some commercial activities along Kampong Bahru Road and Neil Road. It has compact cluster of two- and three-storey shophouses and residential terrace houses of the Early, Transitional, Late and Art Deco styles.
These houses have been reincarnated with a revitalise classic exterior with new interiors within. Each home is unique and their designs are intricate. As all the houses are occupied there was little chance for me to photograph the interiors.
