I've been looking for this kingfisher for a long time and finally I chanced upon one. The Blue-eared Kingfisher is about the same size as the Common Kingfisher but is more vibrant in its color. It is a forest dweller and is found near pools and streams in dense evergreen forest. In Singapore, it is a very rare kingfisher as the species is considered threatened.
Little is known about this quiet secretive little bird that many do not see. It is breath taking watching it dive for fish. Unfortunately, it was too fast for me to catch it diving. I was happy just to watch the bird go about its business before disappearing yet again.
