Being Entertained

Here's a bird that is quite common around the water's edge. However, they can be hard to spot as they blend it well with their background. While waiting for the Common Kingfisher, this Little Heron entertained us with it superb hunting skills.
In the photo below, this heron dove to catch the fish but the fish had other ideas. It leaped out of harms way with the heron in hot pursuit. It was the only one that got away.
There after this Little Heron caught three small fishes.Where to find Little Herons - they are found all over Singapore if you know where to look. These birds are solitary and you will never see them in a flock. They are hard to spot because they blend very well into the background. They can also stay motionless for very long periods of time.
