A Blah!!!! Cooking Class

I signed up for a cooking class in Luang Prabang as I wanted to learn to prepare some Laotian food. The travel agency I used, booked a class at La Residence Phou Vao. I had stayed at their sister hotel in Siem Reap and I was impressed with the property. However, I soon realized that I was short changed as there was no introduction to herbs used in Laotian cooking, I had a junior chef with a restaurant captain as interpreter and the dishes weren't even true Laotian. I continued with the class but did lodge a complain with the travel agency. It was only later did I discover that there are other Laotian cooking schools in Luang Prabang.
My cooking class menu was fried chili prawns with onion and basil, pork in red curry and fried spring rolls. Huh? To add insult to injury they just used Thai pre-mixed pastes. I can do that on my own thank you.
Although, I enjoyed myself cooking as I chatted with a couple from Singapore, who sitted at the pool. The wife offered to be my photographer and she caught me rolling spring rolls. This was the lunch I had prepared for myself, it cost me US$60 for the class and lunch. Now you know why I'm disgruntled.

Hi Hamster,

Thanks! I've taken a cooking class in Bangkok but I'm always looking for new recipes.
